Data were processed in the following steps by Harvey Simon of EPA Region 2 GIS on 03/14/06: 1) Downloaded individual merged grid shapefile for the lower 48 and separate files for Alaska,, Hawaii and Puerto Rico from USDA/NRCS Gateway (https://gdg.sc.egov.usda.gov/ 2) Ran summary statistics and visually inspected the output shapefile to check for duplicate polygons, none were found. 3) Imported text metadata record from gateway, and edited then ran through USGS metadata parser. 5) Imported data into Oracle Spatial using R2 data conversion procedures
